Another fine evening and day in Portugal

It has been raining on and off for the past two days – still. Élio told us we brought the worst storm they’ve had since 2018. Mmmmm (think Marge Simpson groan: https://images.app.goo.gl/PhZ1khEc98xt1LqU9). Well, it has not deterred us! We drove down random roads and found some gorgeous ag land, beautiful cliffs and the ocean yesterday:

Last night I learned how to overbid (and lost) in Spades courtesy of Kim and Dave. I’m going to blame it on the numerous, excellent bottles of Portuguese wine we consumed (minus the donkey dong bottle – that one was a bit challenging). This was a sampling of the bottles we finished from 9:30 p.m.- 1:15 a.m. I think there were 3 more on the table by the end of it all. Just training for the Freemans this weekend and Al and Maren next week!

Today, we rose “naturally” (read: stayed horizontal until late morning) and then C was ever the great tour guide, as usual. We went to the western most point of Portugal (allegedly) at Cabo do Roca in Colares. I paid a man with a few teeth to direct us where to park before C told me the parking was free. The swell and waves were nutty today. So stormy and beautiful.

Then, we had another fine seafood lunch at a cliffside restaurant called Azenhas Do Mar that Tina recommended. We learned that all of the art in the restaurant was made from pieces of garbage gathered from the ocean. I loved the fish race on the wall. The fish were made of license plates. Pictures: Lunch, us, fun with Kim and Dave!

Tonight…. likely more of getting my a– handed to me in cards.
